Withdrawing your residence permit application

You may withdraw your application any time while it is pending. If you withdraw your application, its processing is discontinued and a decision is made to drop the application. The decision of dropping an application cannot be appealed against to an administrative court.

• You may withdraw your application with a written notification in Finnish, Swedish, or English.
• The form of the notification is informal, but it must include the date and your signature.
• You may also withdraw your application via e-mail, but only via the e-mail address that you entered on your application.
• If you wish, you may also say why you are withdrawing your application.
• Deliver your notification directly to the Finnish Immigration Service, a Finnish embassy or the police.

The processing fee will not be refunded even if you withdraw your application.

The withdrawal of an application by the employer

Your employer may withdraw an application for a residence permit for an employed person that the employer has initiated on your behalf before 31.12.2011, if no decision has been made yet and you have not been interviewed for the application. If you have been interviewed, your opinion on the withdrawal of the application is asked. After the withdrawal the application is dropped. If the processing of the application has already begun, the processing fee will not be refunded.
