Processing times for citizenship declarations vary case by case. The average processing times are:

• young person aged 18 to 22: 5–10 months
• foreign national whose father is a Finnish citizen: 3–8 months
• former Finnish citizen: 2–5 months
• adopted child aged 12 to 17: 5–8 months
• natural-born citizen of a Nordic country: 2–5 months
