Citizenship application forms
Submit the completed application to the police in Finland. Contact your local police service point to find out which service point in the area provides licence services.
The following citizenship declarations may also be submitted abroad at a Finnish embassy:
-A former finnish citizen
-An adoptive child of 12–17 years of age
-Citizenship declaration for a child whose father is a citizen of Finland
Check with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland for the embassy where you can submit the declaration.
Carefully fill in and sign the application. Incomplete information will delay the processing of the application and may lead to its rejection. Clarifications that you need to append to your application are listed in the end of the form. The co-applicant must be present when the application or declaration is submitted.
A fee is charged for the processing of each application and declaration.

The declaration form for former Finnish citizens (KAN_7) is available also in English. If a former Finnish citizen wants to include his/her children in his/her declaration, he/she should fill out a co-applicant appendix. The correct appendix is chosen according to the child's age.

This declaration form is for you if you are a former Finnish citizen and have lost Finnish citizenship. Application for a minor must be filed by a legal guardian.

Request to determine citizenship status

This form is for you if you wish to request determination of your citizenship status, if the information on you in the Population Information System is incorrect, or if you need a decision issued by an authority concerning what the Finnish authorities consider your citizenship to be.

This form is also for you if you wish to determine the citizenship of your child. In the latter case, enter data on the child in section A 1 and data on yourself in section A 3.
