The processing of citizenship applications may be expedited only by weighty reasons

Requests to expedite citizenship applications are not encouraged as the requests themselves must be processed; the resulting congestion merely slows down the decision-making.

Sufficient reasons to expedite processing are not, for example,

• moving, studies, holiday trip abroad or visit to relatives
• expiring of a travel document or a residence permit
• wish to do one’s military service
