Decision-making is faster if citizenship application is filled in carefully
Clearly positive applications, which will be decided on faster, are
applications submitted in 2009 and 2010 where
- the applicant holds a national passport
- there is no need for further clarification
- the requirements for citizenship are easily clarified by means of
documents and registers.
Further clarification is needed if
- not all questions on the application form have been answered
- not all obligatory appendices have been enclosed to the application
(obligatory appendices are listed on the last page of the application form)
- the fulfilment of the requirements has to be considered
separately.
If there’s a need for further inquiry based on, for example, criminal acts
committed by the applicant or a prolonged absence from Finland that exceeds
normal vacation stays, the fulfilment of the requirements will be assessed
separately and the processing time will lengthen. Even when there’s need for
further inquiry, the application is usually approved.
The division of applications to ‘precise’ applications and ‘other’
applications is preliminary, and this division won’t be registered. An
application that is considered ‘precise’ can later be moved into the ‘other’
applications. Migri does not give out information whether an application is
processed as ‘precise’ or ‘other’.
