Application fees

A fee is charged for the processing of applications. The fee is not refunded if the application is withdrawn after it has been taken under consideration. The fee shall be paid to the authority to whom the application is submitted.

The Finnish Immigration Service fees are based on a Ministry of Interior decree.

NB No fee is charged for

- a citizenship application or declaration for a child who is included in his/her parent’s application (co-applicant)
- a citizenship declaration if the applicant proves that he has served in the Finnish army during the Finnish wars in 1939-1945 as conscripted or summoned to military service or as a volunteer.
- a citizenship declaration for so called 'war children' who were sent to the other Nordic countries due to the Second World War
