Check whether you fulfil the requirements for migrating to Finland and what permits you need

This is a Finnish Immigration Service service for those who are planning to migrate to Finland or are applying for their first residence permit.  If you already have a valid residence permit for Finland, contact the local police to apply for an extension.

The service will introduce a series of questions and based on your replies will provide answers to the following:

1. Do you need a visa or a residence permit when you come to Finland?
2. Do you fulfil the requirements for a first residence permit?
3. What do you have to do when applying for a visa or residence permit, or when registering for the right to reside in Finland?

Providing you give correct and precise information the service summary will give an accurate picture of your situation, although it cannot make allowances for all individual circumstances. If you are answering the questions on behalf of another person, give answers as if you were that person.

Your answers will not be recorded, nor will the authorities see or handle the information you provide. 
Instructions for using the service:
